Floors, Decks and Concrete Coated in Ogden

Epoxy floor coatings hold up in Ogden, where the ground freezes and thaws all winter. Ogden sits at about 4,341 feet at the foot of the Wasatch. City crews start salting streets once 2 inches of snow piles up. That salt rides home on your tires and sits on the slab. We coat floors across Ogden, in East Central bungalows and in homes on the bench by Weber State University. We also work the shops and storefronts around Historic 25th Street. A coated floor gives salt and hot tires a hard surface to sit on. It wipes clean too, which matters in a town built on snow gear and work trucks. The right system depends on what the slab under it looks like.

Complete Concrete Coatings works out of Centerville, about 22 miles south of Ogden. I-15 puts our trucks in Weber County in about 30 minutes. We have coated concrete since 2005. The company is family owned, and we are licensed and insured. In Ogden we do garage floor coatings, basement and shop floors, patios, porches and driveways. We also handle commercial and industrial epoxy flooring for warehouses, showrooms and airplane hangars. Every job starts the same way. We come out, look at the concrete and tell you what the surface needs. There is no charge for that visit. When you are ready, ask for a free estimate and we will set a time.

Older Ogden homes: garages, basements and porches

About 19 percent of Ogden homes were built before 1940. Another 35 percent went up between 1940 and 1969. That history shows up in the concrete. East Central is full of 1910s bungalows with front porches and brick homes from the 1940s. Many sit inside the Central Bench Historic District, which covers 80 blocks and close to 3,300 buildings. Up on the East Bench you find century-old Tudor and Craftsman houses. Shadow Valley is mostly detached homes, and a lot of them date to the 1960s. Older lots often put the garage at the back, off the alley. Those slabs have seen 60 to 100 winters. Cracks, pitting, flaking and pop-outs come with that age.

Old concrete needs prep before it takes a coating. We grind the slab down to clean concrete first. Then we handle the cracks, spalling, pitting and pop-outs before any product goes down. A basement floor may need a vapor-barrier coating, since a lot of older slabs went in without plastic underneath. Detached garages get the same flake or polyaspartic finish as an attached one. Front porches and steps are a different job. Those we usually fix first. Then we recoat with a resurfacing overlay in a color you pick, and finish with a clear top coat. Most garage floors are done in a day. Porches and patios take longer because the repair work comes first.

Warehouses, hangars and Ogden winters

Ogden is a working city, and it has the floors to prove it. Business Depot Ogden covers 1,118 acres on the site of the old Defense Depot Ogden. It holds about 13 million square feet of warehouse, manufacturing and office space. Many of those buildings date to World War II, so the slabs are old and heavily used. Ogden-Hinckley Airport sits 4 miles southwest of the city center with 335 based aircraft. Owners lease the ground there and build their own hangars. Winter is the other factor. Ogden City salts hills and intersections once 2 inches of snow lands, and plows at 4 inches. Forklifts and trucks carry that brine right onto the slab.

Warehouse and hangar floors need a system built for the load. We use self-leveling epoxy on rough slabs. Mortar epoxy goes down where the concrete is chewed up. Anti-static epoxy is there when the work calls for it. Commercial and industrial epoxy flooring also goes into showrooms, food plants, schools and retail space. Hangar floors have to shed fuel and hydraulic fluid without staining. Where a coating is not the answer, a penetrating sealer can be. Silane and siloxane sealers hold about 10 years and slow salt damage. New concrete waits at least 30 days before we seal it. Tell us how the space gets used and we will plan the work around it.

We used them 8 years ago to recover our driveway. It still looks great and cost is 1/4th what it would have if we replaced the whole thing.

Ogden FAQ

Questions From Ogden Property Owners

A few of the questions we hear most around Ogden. Don't see yours? Call the office and ask.

Call (801) 347-4518

How much does a garage floor coating cost in Ogden?
Price depends on the size of the garage, the condition of the slab and the system you pick. A floor with cracks, spalling or an old DIY kit needs more prep before coating. Flake and metallic finishes price differently. We come out, look at the floor and give you a free estimate.
Will road salt from Ogden streets damage a coated garage floor?
A finished coating is much harder to damage than bare concrete. Salt and brine sit on the surface instead of soaking into the slab. You still want to rinse the floor after a snowy week. Left alone, that brine works into any chip or bare edge.
Do you coat warehouse and hangar floors at Business Depot Ogden and Ogden-Hinckley Airport?
Yes. We do commercial and industrial floors for warehouses, hangars, showrooms and food and beverage facilities. Large slabs usually get a grind first, then crack repair, then a system matched to the traffic they take. Send over the square footage and the type of traffic, and we will come out and look.
