A garage floor built for road salt and hot tires

A garage floor coating turns a stained, dusty slab into a hard surface you can clean with a mop. We start with an epoxy base coat and broadcast color flake into it while it is wet. A clear polyaspartic or urethane top coat goes on last. The flake hides small flaws in the concrete and adds grip underfoot. The finish is one solid sheet, so oil and dirt sit on top instead of soaking in. The top coat is the layer that fights road salt and hot tires. Complete Concrete Coatings has been installing these floors across the Wasatch Front since 2005. Most garages get ground, repaired and coated in a single visit.

Complete Concrete Coatings is a family owned shop at 452 N 1100 W in Centerville. We have been coating floors in Utah since 2005, and Paul answers the phone during the week. We are licensed and insured, and we hold 77 Google reviews at a 4.8 rating. Our work area is the Wasatch Front, from Ogden south through Salt Lake County. Garage floors are the job we do most for homeowners. If your slab has cracks or flaking edges, we handle the concrete crack and spall repair first. What goes into a garage floor coating install?

Prep is most of the job. We run diamond grinders over the whole slab to take off old sealer and the smooth top layer. That gives the epoxy an open surface to grab. The same grinders run our warehouse and hangar floor jobs. Cracks and chipped edges get filled and shaved flat before any color goes on. If the slab sits below grade or shows damp patches, we test for moisture first. Then we pick a system that can handle it. Skipping these steps is why coatings peel. A floor that is ground and patched right will stay stuck to the concrete for years.

Most garages are a 1 day job. The crew grinds in the morning, patches, then lays the epoxy base and broadcasts flake across it. Once the flake sets, the surface gets scraped and the clear top coat goes down. We bring a storage trailer so your tool boxes and bikes have somewhere to sit. As a general rule, you can walk on a fresh floor the next day. Parking on it usually waits a few more days. Richard Koci said it plainly in his Google review: "The guys knocked out my garage floor in 1 day! Concrete repair and high end epoxy at a fair price."

What does a garage floor coating cost in Utah?

Price comes down to the floor in front of us. Square footage sets the base, and a 3 car garage costs more than a single. Condition moves it from there. A slab with wide cracks or a failed DIY kit needs repair before the coating starts. That repair work adds labor. The system you pick matters too. A full flake floor with a polyaspartic top coat sits above a plain solid color epoxy. Moisture can change things as well. A damp slab needs a vapor barrier product under the color, which raises the material cost. Odd shapes, steps and coved edges also add time.

Estimates are free. Call the office at (801) 347-4518 and Paul will set a time that works. We come to the garage and look at the bare slab. We measure it and check the cracks and edges. Where the concrete looks damp, we test for moisture. Then we show you flake colors and explain which top coat suits how you use the space. Ask about grip and cleaning while we are there. You get a written number for that floor before we leave. If you want a look at other rooms, we can price the metallic epoxy floors at the same visit.

Why Utah garages are hard on a garage floor coating

Utah gives a garage floor a rough year. Every winter your tires drag road salt and de-icer off the street and drop it on the slab. The brine sits in the concrete, then freezes and pushes the surface apart. That is how spalling and flaking start near the door. Summer swings the other way. Tires come home hot from a July afternoon and sit on the floor while they cool. A thin DIY kit softens under that heat and lifts with the tread, which is called hot tire pickup. A ground and sealed garage floor coating stays put through both, in Ogden or anywhere along the valley.

We replace failed kits often. Most of those floors show hot tire marks and peeling edges. The old coating gets ground off down to bare concrete. Damaged spots get repaired, then a proper system goes back down. We do this work all over the Wasatch Front. Homes in Bountiful, Farmington, Kaysville and Layton sit in the same salt belt as our shop in Centerville. Wherever the garage sits, we grind first and match the system to what that slab has been through. A garage floor coating only lasts if the prep under it was done right.

Call (801) 347-4518

How long does a garage floor coating take?
Most residential garages are finished in 1 day. We grind and repair in the morning, lay the epoxy base and flake, then apply the clear top coat. We bring a storage trailer for your boxes and gear so the slab is clear. Bigger or badly damaged floors can run a second day.
When can I park on a new garage floor coating?
Cure times depend on the product and the weather, so we give you the exact schedule for your floor. As a typical pattern, you can walk on it the next day and park on it a few days later. Keep water and heavy loads off until we say the floor is ready.
Is a polyaspartic garage floor coating better than epoxy?
They do different jobs in the same floor. Epoxy is the base coat that bonds to the concrete and holds the flake. Polyaspartic and urethane are clear top coats that take the abuse from hot tires and road salt. We use them together, and we pick the top coat that fits your garage.
Can you coat over my failed DIY epoxy kit?
Yes. We grind the old kit off down to bare concrete first. A new coat will not stick to a lifting one. Hot tire marks and peeling patches come off in that step. Cracks and chips get repaired, then the new system goes down over clean concrete.
What is the warranty on a garage floor coating?
We pass on the manufacturer's warranty and apply every product to the manufacturer's specifications. The term depends on the system you choose, so ask which product we plan to use. We go over it at the free estimate. Complete Concrete Coatings has been coating floors in Utah since 2005, licensed and insured.

Why Choose Complete Concrete Coatings

Why Wasatch Front Property Owners Call Us

Coating Concrete Since 2005

The company started in 2005 and is still family owned and run. The crews have ground, repaired and coated Utah garages, decks and driveways for over 20 years. That is a lot of freeze-thaw winters and salted slabs.

Prep First, Every Time

Coatings fail at the prep, so we diamond grind or sandblast every slab, fix the cracks and spalling, and test for moisture before any color goes down. Every product goes on to the manufacturer's specifications.

Repair Instead of Replace

A worn porch, a salt-damaged driveway or a stained garage floor rarely needs a tear-out. We repair the surface and coat, resurface or seal it. You keep the slab and spend the money on the surface you see.

Centerville Is Home

Our shop sits at 452 N 1100 W in Centerville, so Davis County, Salt Lake City and Ogden are short drives. Call and you get Paul at the office, not a call center. Estimates are free and happen at the property.
